SOOBIN, Dolce & Gabbana and the Growing Power of Male K-Beauty

By Andrea Sacal

There was a time when announcing a male fashion ambassador required a suit, a serious expression and perhaps a strategically placed watch: SOOBIN got skincare. When Dolce & Gabbana officially named the TOMORROW X TOGETHER leader its newest global brand ambassador, the debut imagery offered something more interesting than another perfectly tailored K-pop star. Alongside his expected fashion portraits, SOOBIN appears in intimate beauty-focused shots: skin glowing and products in hand as his glass skin ritual becomes the focal point.

While SOOBIN's appointment sees another idol entering luxury fashion's increasingly crowded ambassador roster, it also arrives as Korean male beauty ideals become increasingly influential far beyond Seoul.

SOOBIN’s relationship with Dolce & Gabbana had already been building for years before his official ambassador title arrived. In June, he attended the italian label’s Spring/Summer 2027 menswear show during Milan Fashion Week, appearing in a sharp black blazer, a crisp white shirt and a blue floral brooch. A month later, the relationship moved beyond the front row with a GQ Korea editorial featuring SOOBIN in pieces from the house's Fall/Winter 2026 “SARTORIALE” pre-collection. Photographed around Milan, SOOBIN moved between sharply cut suits, coats and more relaxed pieces, bringing his soft presence to a house historically known for Sicilian sensuality, theatricality and an unapologetic maximalist attitude.

Dolce & Gabbana's decision to introduce SOOBIN through its beauty line reflects the brand’s attention-first approach to idol appointments. The TXT idol belongs to a generation that has helped make visible skincare, makeup and grooming for men feel considerably less taboo. In other words, your favorite K-pop boy isn't only selling you the look anymore – he might be selling the serum on his skin, too. That’s what makes Dolce&Gabbana and SOOBIN a match made in heaven: Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s brand portrait often captures the well-tailored man with glistening skin heading to a European getaway, while SOOBIN’s polished off-stage energy makes him the perfect catalyst for Dolce&Gabbana's K-pop entry.

TXT's visual universe has long allowed its members to move through romanticism, fantasy, prep, grunge and traditional masculinity without treating beauty as something that needs to be hidden from the public. A skincare-focused luxury campaign feels like a natural extension of SOOBIN’s visual image, with his inherent softness shining through the lens.

K-beauty itself is currently enjoying another enormous global surge. Korea surpassed France to become the largest supplier of beauty products to the U.S. in 2024, and male beauty is evolving alongside it. K-beauty’s growing popularity confirms that skincare doesn't need to prove its masculinity, it just needs to make your skin look good. Seeing male idols routinely photographed with luminous skin, carefully styled hair, manicured nails and polished makeup makes unisex beauty feel less like a departure from masculinity and more like ordinary components of everyone’s daily routine.

Luxury houses have spent years discovering that K-pop ambassadors can provide something traditional celebrity campaigns struggle to replicate, and SOOBIN's D&G appointment suggests that K-pop’s domination is expanding across every fashion house. Dolce&Gabbana operates across fashion, accessories, fragrance and beauty, giving an ambassador like SOOBIN space to move through an entire lifestyle rather than remaining attached to the brand’s traditionally refined tailoring. SOOBIN’s relationship with the brand already feels lived-in: he supported Dolce&Gabbana from its Milan front row, wore its tailoring editorially and is now stepping into an official global role – a natural progression for a multi-faceted idol that can do it all. The appointment feels less like luxury matchmaking and more like the formalization of something already in progress.

Dolce & Gabbana brings decades of Italian glamour and a taste for unapologetic beauty; SOOBIN brings a version of masculinity shaped by a K-pop generation comfortable treating beauty as something to enjoy rather than defend. Tailoring got him through the doors at Dolce&Gabbana, but the skincare might tell us much more about where the masculine image is heading next.
