From Lady Dior to the Trail

JISOO’s Salomon Era Is Transforming K-pop’s Sportswear Viewpoint

By Andrea Sacal

JISOO joining Salomon as global brand ambassador on May 28, 2026 is exactly that kind of announcement that makes the fashion industry sit up straight. On the surface, it looks like a pivot from Paris Fashion Week’s front row royalty to lacing up technical footwear, weather-resistent outerwear and grippy mountain climbers. But spend five minutes thinking about JISOO’s alignment with Salomon and you’ll start to rethink the moment as an arrival for K-pop within sneaker culture, rather than a departure from its luxury blueprint.

Salomon made the partnership official earlier this year, framing it from the outset as a long-term creative relationship rather than a seasonal campaign. The brand's positioning was clear: this collaboration nods to alfresco culture on the trail – mapping precisely onto where Salomon has been steering itself throughout the current decade. Salomon's Global VP of Product and Experience Kristof Cavazzana put the alliance in plain terms, describing JISOO as inking a new definition for sportswear. “JISOO represents a generation embracing openness, curiosity and fluidity between sport and fashion,” Cavazzana noted. “Her perspective and global influence resonate with how Salomon continues to evolve today, bringing mountain heritage, outdoor lifestyle and style into broader cultural conversations.”

If you're wondering how the BLACKPINK frontwoman who spent five years as Dior's most commercially effective front-row presence ended up in gorpcore, the answer is: she was always more versatile than the luxury packaging suggested. JISOO has held global ambassador status at Dior since 2021, but the luxury house, now manned by Jonathan Anderson, was not the only institution on her radar. Her Alo Yoga global ambassadorship, which began in January 2024, blossomed into a genuine product collaboration within a year — resulting in the Alo Sunset Sneaker in a Bloom Pink, complete with suede construction, interchangeable laces, and star-shaped Shumon charms. Salomon is the natural evolution for a K-pop starlet combining activewear, luxury, and street culture inside a broadening fashion playbook.

JISOO grew up in South Korea near the mountains, and has spoken consistently about nature as a source of grounding and freedom rather than as a backdrop for adventure sports. What she values in Salomon, she has said, is the balance between functionality, movement, and style – which is a sentence that could serve as a mission statement for gorpcore itself. The JISOO x Salomon campaign imagery leans into the idea of outdoor pieces worn with ease and technical sneakers styled simply – the kind of clean layering that works on a city block and a mountain path without announcing which one it was intended for. Salomon is portraying JISOO with the volume turned down and the resolution turned up.

The partnership is structured to extend into future product and creative collaborations, details of which have yet to be revealed. Given what JISOO produced with Alo — a sneaker that sold out, generated its own pop-up ecosystem, and gave fans something to own rather than just observe – the prospect of a JISOO x Salomon footwear moment is not wishful thinking. It is the obvious next sentence in a partnership that puts JISOO on the border of K-pop’s relationship with sneaker culture. From G-DRAGON's PEACEMINUSONE x Nike kingdom to Rosé promoting PUMA’s archival silhouettes since 2024, idols are leading sneaker culture’s expansion beyond collectors – allowing fandoms to connect their favorite kicks to their favorite stars.

JISOO is not alone in charting this territory. She is, however, the first idol to plant a flag specifically in the gorpcore and outdoor performance space. Around her, a broader sneaker ecosystem involving K-pop's biggest names has been assembling itself with remarkable speed. Felix of Stray Kids was named an adidas Originals global ambassador in March 2026, fronting the brand's SS26 "Urban Street" campaign explicitly exploring the intersection of K-pop and streetwear. Karina of aespa has her own Nike global ambassadorship, while Winter has been building her New Balance relationship quietly and consistently, occupying the brand's more understated end of the spectrum. Elsewhere, Lisa fronted the Nike x Skims collaboration in February 2026 as a moment that collapsed the line between athletic apparel and luxury lingerie. J-Hope's Louis Vuitton sneaker collaboration is currently in development, which means even the most formal luxury house in K-pop's orbit is moving toward footwear as its next frontier. This landscape signals that JISOO’s Salomon appointment is not an anomaly, but the latest and most specific expression of a collective shift: K-pop is the new face of sneaker culture.

The fashion industry has spent the better part of a decade watching K-pop reshape brand partnerships beyond borders. JISOO helped write that playbook at Dior, extended it into activewear at Alo, and is now bringing it to a brand in need of that kind of cultural bridge. The mountains have been part of her life since the beginning and she's finally wearing the right shoes for them – and somehow, her Salomon’s are the coolest shoes in the room.
