STAYC have been on the road for their STAY TUNED world tour, and true to its name, fans around the globe have been locked in since their 2020 debut. The group kicked off the North American leg in early October in Seattle before making their way across the States, wrapping their U.S. run in New York City on October 21.
Just below Madison Square Garden, inside the 6,000-capacity Theatre at MSG, the night felt intimate despite its scale. Outside, SWITHs (STAYC’s fandom) gathered in the cool air, trading lightsticks, photos and pre-show playlists as they waited to head inside.
Once it was finally time for the night to begin, the lights dimmed and fans eagerly rose from their seats in anticipation. The opening VCR played a compilation of the group’s biggest hits, and when members Sumin, Sieun, Isa, Seeun, Yoon, and J finally stepped on stage, a deafening roar made its way throughout the venue.
The girls opened the evening with title track “BEBE,” a powerful dance track that irrefutably makes a strong statement: all eyes should be on them.
The song acts as the focus track from their most recent release, S, and not only does it open the night with a bang, but establishes their sound as multidimensional; angelic one second and fierce the next.
Over the course of the evening, the girls proved that they have truly grown as artists since their last visit to the States. Their opening was followed by “1 Thing,” and “Poppy,” the latter being an earworm that completely took the industry by storm.
Fresh off their opening performance, the energy was high as the members introduced themselves. Though often an unspoken promise, the girls vocalized their hopes to create an unforgettable night for fans, a sincere display of their excitement for the night ahead.
The evening’s setlist saw songs both old and new, with performances of discography staples such as “Cheeky Icy Thang,” “RUN2U,” “BEAUTIFUL MONSTER,” and “STEREOTYPE.” Each song boasts the group’s signature mantra, “STAYC girls, it’s going down!”, a line that had fans singing along like a well-practiced chorus.
Midway through the night, a quick sound glitch briefly broke the flow. Sieun diffused it with humour, joking that maybe someone jealous of STAYC was messing with the sound. The crowd laughed, and the show rolled on – a reminder of how natural and composed the group has become onstage.
The evening also saw unit songs from the girls: Sieun and Seeun shared the stage for “Find,” Sumin, Yoon, and J joined forces for “Fakin’,” and member Isa took the stage solo for “Roses.” Each performance truly gave the members a chance to show off their individual charms, robust vocals on full display.
As the night continued on, fans got to enjoy many of the group’s stellar B-sides, with tracks such as “Meant To Be,” “YOUNG LUV,” “Trouble Maker,” and “Twenty” having fans up out of their seats and singing along to each word. Elsewhere, the members slipped in acapella snippets of tracks that didn’t make the setlist – a spontaneous gesture that got the biggest cheers.
Performances of “Teddy Bear” and “SO BAD” brought the night to a close – or so people thought. The sextet later returned styled in their tour merchandise, and as the beginning notes of “Gummy Bear” played over the speakers, fans looked to the stage for their return, only to find them making their way through the crowd. Saying hi to SWITH, taking selfies with them, and truly savoring their time together, it was a memorable segment that made sure every section of the theatre felt seen.
Before their final song, the girls took the time to sit and talk with fans, sharing their earnest thoughts about the evening. “I was so happy tonight SWITH, it was our last night in the US and the energy was crazy, it was incredible!” Yoon shared. “Thank you for making our last night of the US tour amazing, and for brightening our night.” This sentiment rang true for the rest of the members, and fans easily repaid their love by cheering sincerely for each member as they spoke. The night came to a close with “Stay WITH Me,” a promise between STAYC and SWITH to remain close despite what the future may hold, and a beautiful closer for the evening’s performance.
2025 has seen growth from STAYC like no other, and with only a few months left in the year, STAY TUNED has provided the group the opportunity to celebrate the success the year has brought them. Confident, creative, and fully in sync, STAYC are making it clear that everyone should keep watching what comes next.
