NCT WISH Release ‘I SPY’ and Announce 2nd Concert Tour

by Isabel Miller

NCT WISH, the youngest sub-unit of SM Entertainment’s NCT, has released their fourth mini album I SPY alongside the announcement of their second concert tour.

On October 12, following a series of teasers, I SPY dropped on global streaming services. Led by an eponymous title track, the mini album consists of six songs: “I SPY,” “We Own This Street,” “UPGRADE,” “Super Major,” “Hubble Time,” and “Like A Dream.” As is common with NCT WISH releases, many of the songs reflect on love and relationships.

With this mini album in particular, the group are leaning into the technological yet nostalgic trend making its way through the industry. “I SPY” is a bright, electronic track featuring several layers of synth. Its music video opens with retro animations, the members as video game characters, and a VR perspective, while geometric sets and the use of an old TV screen gives the viewer a glimpse into an imitation of a virtual world. All carry a distinct early-2000s feel in colour, distortion, and old technological references.

Ahead of the release, NCT WISH performed the songs for the first time during an offline comeback event, titled 'I SPY YOU,' at Korea University's Hwajeong Gymnasium on October 10 and 11. Across three sold-out shows the group greeted over 11,000 fans, alongside those watching online via a streaming link.

I SPY has come with the additional news of NCT WISH’s second concert tour since their debut in 2024. Announced a day before the album’s release, the NCT WISH 2nd CONCERT TOUR 'INTO THE WISH : Face Our WISH' will see the six members perform across Asia throughout the first four months of 2027. The tour will kick off at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on January 15, and conclude with its 19th show in Hong Kong on April 30. As the poster does not state that more dates are to come, it seems that this tour will remain in Asia as their first tour did last year.

These two simultaneous announcements will work in NCT WISH’s favour, driving anticipation for both the I SPY mini album and the 'INTO THE WISH : Face Our WISH' concert tour. With the offline event for the release – bridging the two components of mini album and live performance – sold out, the demand for more in-person appearances is certainly high.

The group has seen a steady rise in popularity throughout the past two years, with their most recent album Ode to Love seeing their highest first day sales figures to date upon its release in April at approximately 1,285,000 copies. NCT WISH will hope to see that trajectory continue, and the company evidently anticipates it to; their performance at Gocheok Sky Dome will hold a maximum of 25,000 spectators, an increase on the 15,000 limit of Inspire Arena booked for the tour opener last year. Multiple of the stops on the sestet’s first concert tour sold out, including the initial Korea dates and all 17 shows across Japan – the capacity increase is warranted, and will see NCT WISH perform to their biggest solo-concert crowds yet.

I SPY is available to stream on global music platforms from today, with physical copies also going on sale at various retailers. More information regarding ticket sales for the 'INTO THE WISH : Face Our WISH' concert tour is expected soon.
