K-pop’s newest girl group AtHeart have officially arrived – and they’re not easing into the scene quietly. Today marks the release of their debut EP Plot Twist via Titan Content/IMPERIAL Music, led by the high-energy title track of the same name.
Produced and co-written by Jonah Shy (Chappell Roan, Camila Cabello, Shawn Mendes) and mixed by Grammy-winning engineer Rob Kinelski (Billie Eilish), “Plot Twist” blends soft, dreamlike harmonies with bursts of EDM intensity. The song’s structure mirrors its name – opening and closing with an unguarded a cappella moment that frames a rush of unpredictable emotions. It’s the sound of diving into the unknown and loving the free fall.
The music video leans into the drama, casting each member – Seohyeon, Katelyn, Bome, Nahyun, Michi, and Arin – as their own romantic archetype, weaving a series of playful, sometimes bittersweet vignettes. In a moment that’s already sparking fan discussion, Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung makes a cameo as a sharp-eyed counsellor, paying homage to the bond between K-pop generations.
Beyond its lead single, Plot Twist jumps between moods and genres without losing cohesion. “Push Back” threads amapiano rhythms through a coy push-and-pull romance, while “Dot Dot Dot…” pares everything back to a minimalist R&B confessional. “Knew Me” steps into bright pop territory with a self-assured edge, and pre-release single “Good Girl (AtHeart)” keeps its rebellious streak alive with bold, genre-bending production. Together, the five tracks form a coming-of-age soundtrack – fearless, and unafraid to change direction mid-verse.
AtHeart’s debut comes with serious momentum. Months before Plot Twist dropped, they’d already landed a U.S. label deal with IMPERIAL Music, and signed on as global ambassadors for Japanese brand SAVAS. For Titan Content – the U.S.-based K-pop company founded by former SM Entertainment CEO Nikki Semin Han – the launch signals a clear intention: to create a group with both homegrown roots and global reach.
Whether Plot Twist turns out to be just the first chapter or the opening scene of a much bigger story, AtHeart’s debut makes one thing certain – they know how to make an entrance.
