WOODZ: To Be Continued…

Cho Seung-youn, known professionally as WOODZ, is a multifaceted South Korean artist who has made significant strides in various realms of the music industry, showcasing his talents as a singer-songwriter, rapper, and producer. His journey began as a member of the Korean-Chinese boy band Uniq, formed in 2014 by Yuehua Entertainment, where he quickly became recognized for his contributions as a rapper and vocalist. Beyond his work with Uniq, WOODZ co-founded the musical collectives M.O.L.A and Drinkcolor, and later, his own production team, Team HOW.

WOODZ's solo career took off under the stage name Luizy in 2016 with the hip-hop single "Recipe," but he soon shifted his artistic direction, adopting the name WOODZ in 2018 to reflect his evolving sound. His music as WOODZ, marked by tracks like "Pool" and "Meaningless," delves into alternative R&B and explores complex themes of love, self-reflection, and mental health. This period of his career also saw him writing and producing for other artists, demonstrating his wide-ranging capabilities in a competitive industry.
In 2019, WOODZ gained further prominence through his participation in the survival show Produce X 101, where he secured a spot in the project boy band X1. Despite the group's disbandment in early 2020 due to a vote manipulation scandal, WOODZ swiftly returned to his solo career, releasing his first EP Equal and its lead single "Love Me Harder." The EP showcased his growth as an artist, blending alternative sounds with introspective lyrics, and was met with critical acclaim. WOODZ continued to build on this momentum with subsequent releases, including his second EP Woops! and third EP Only Lovers Left, each demonstrating his ability to craft compelling music that resonates with a broad audience.
WOODZ's artistic evolution has been marked by his continuous experimentation with genres and his commitment to maintaining creative control over his work. His 2022 EP Colorful Trauma and the lead single "I Hate You" further showcased his ability to push boundaries, both musically and thematically. This period also saw him expanding his influence internationally, with successful concerts in Bangkok and collaborations with various global artists.

In late 2022, WOODZ parted ways with Yuehua Entertainment and signed with EDAM Entertainment, signaling a new chapter in his career. WOODZ began his mandatory military service in early 2024, leaving us a legacy of innovation and artistic growth, with a discography that reflects his journey from a boy band member to a solo artist capable of shaping the future of K-pop.
