South Korean trot singer Kim Ho Joong arrested for hit and run

Kim Ho Joong, best known for his music career as a trot singer, has been arrested. The 33-year-old man was arrested in connection to a drunk driving incident, where Joong allegedly crashed into a taxi in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The driver was injured.
After the incident, the intoxicated Kim Ho Joong contacted his agency, who then attempted to help him flee and cover up the incident. 17 hours later, however, Kim Ho Joong turned himself in.
Judge Shin Young Hee of the Seoul Central District Court elevated the issue due to the involvement of Kim Ho Joong’s agency. An arrest warrant was issued on May 24 for violating the Specific Crimes Act and the Road Traffic Act. The actions taken by his agency were also considered aiding and abetting a fugitive. The judge was concerned about destruction of evidence, and wanted to ensure that Kim Ho Joong was taken into custody.
THINK Entertainment is the agency involved in the scandal – in multiple areas. The most egregious being THINK’s chief Jeon Mo organizing a systematic cover-up. They tried to remove the black box memory card from Kim Ho Joong’s damaged vehicle, lending credence to the Judge’s concern about destruction of evidence. Further, a manager attempted to falsely confess on behalf of Kim Ho Joong by switching clothes with him but was caught in the act.
