Seventeen's Hoshi Donates 100 Million KRW to Support Laos Educational Facility

Seventeen's Hoshi, also known as Kwon Soon Young, has made a significant impact by donating 100 million KRW (approximately 70,000 USD) to aid the construction of educational infrastructure at the Luang Prabang Orphanage School in Laos.

The Northern Division of the Gyeonggi Community Chest of Korea, commonly known as the Gyeonggi Northern Love Fruit, made this announcement, highlighting Hoshi's generous contribution. A donation ceremony took place on November 4 at the National Luang Prabang Orphanage School, attended by Hoshi's parents, Yom Ki Tak, the Director of the Korea-Laos Education and Culture Center, and other notable figures from the local education community.

In appreciation, the students performed a traditional Laotian dance and sang "Spring in My Hometown," a beloved Korean children’s song. This touching gesture underscored the cultural connection fostered through Hoshi's donation.

The funds will be utilized to construct new classrooms and improve living facilities, including a girls' dormitory and kitchen, significantly enhancing the learning and living conditions for over 500 underprivileged students. The new classrooms will serve as spaces for Korean and English language studies as well as computer classes, aimed at equipping students for future educational and career opportunities.

Hoshi expressed his heartfelt intention behind the donation, saying, “I wanted to support the children so they could grow up healthy and happy. I will continue to give back with a grateful heart to all those who show me love, and I will strive to help people in difficult situations.”
