Daily Non-K-pop Spotlight: “Fever Dream” by Hayeon

One listen and you’ll understand immediately why “Fever Dream” is the title track for Hayeon’s latest EP, which dropped last June. Clocking in at just 2:30, this is a light, breezy song with a strong vocal and a retro-pop arrangement that feels classic while incorporating modern, clean, chugging pop guitar. 

 

The song’s rhythm section mixes tight drum machines with spacious added percussion elements like claps, filter sweeps, and sub boomers. 

In the middle of it all is Hayeon, who delivers a muted, solid performance. He minimalist approach lets the lyrics and the melody speak for themselves. It’ll be awesome to see different sides of her on future releases, but for now we’re more than content to listen to her dreamy delivery. Give “Fever Dream” a spin!
