Daily Non-K-pop Spotlight: “Beep-Boop, Beep-Boop” by Meaningful Stone

The lofi vibes are strong on this one. Featuring a jazzy e-piano chord progression and some muted drums, Meaningful Stone’s vocals enter on a filtered “Beep-Boop” hook that feels like a roomy phone memo. But the song doesn’t stay there (even though 3+ minutes of lofi would’ve been delightful).

 

Instead, the song surprises with a drop into funk-infused rock. Distorted guitars; a bumping, melodic bass line; some epic synths; an unforgettable guitar solo; and a truly anthemic chorus solidified this as one of our favorite K-indie picks to date. From start to finish, it’s a really clever and fun mix of genres.
