Red Velvet’s WENDY Announces Solo Comeback for November
by Isabel Miller

WENDY of Red Velvet is set to make her solo comeback in November, over a year since her previous solo release.
Her agency, ASND, shared the news on social media. No specific date has been announced, nor has the album format of the release, but new music – whether a single or an album – is on the way.
WENDY debuted as a member of Red Velvet in 2014. Since then, the group has released four studio albums and 16 EPs, becoming one of SM Entertainment’s leading artists. Recognised for smooth R&B-infused songs like “Psycho,” “Bad Boy,” and “Peek-A-Boo” as well as for their seasonal summer albums, they have carved out a versatile image and remain well-known over a decade later.
Within Red Velvet, WENDY gained popularity for her powerful vocals. This led to her appearing on many K-drama OSTs as a soloist, and eventually to her solo debut in 2021. Her first solo mini album Like Water, led by a title track of the same name, sold over 115,000 copies within its first week of release. Three years later, she returned with the second mini album Wish You Hell, and in 2025 her third mini album Cerulean Verge came out as her first with ASND – ranking on Billboard’s list of the Best Albums of 2025. Each shifts between emotional ballads and vibrant indie-pop, offering fans a variety of concepts and sounds. Just over a year later, she’s set to release her second music project with the company.
WENDY’s solo world tour in September 2025, following the release of Cerulean Verge, showcased her popularity worldwide. The <W:EALIVE> World Tour saw WENDY perform in Seoul, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, the U.S., Thailand, Malaysia, Macau, and the Philippines, with both opening dates and later encore dates in Seoul being sold out.
Throughout 2026, she has been active as a member of Red Velvet surrounding their summer comeback Velvet Summer and the promotion of its title track “Surfin’ Boy,” adding to their seasonal series. Now, with the release of new music, she will make a return as a soloist with her own sound, drawing on the success of last year’s solo activities.
Fans can expect more of WENDY’s iconic vocals, this time from a different angle. “She plans to showcase a different side of herself,” ASND’s announcement reads, “drawing on her exceptional vocal ability and delicate emotional expression.”
Another release from members of Red Velvet is scheduled for November, alongside WENDY’s; IRENE and SEULGI’s Japanese EP Cheetah. The sub-unit is set to make their debut in Japan, with several shows remaining on the ‘IRENE & SEULGI JAPAN TOUR 2026 - blank -’ that will conclude a day after the album’s November 4 release date. Combined with JOY’s promotions surrounding her voice acting debut in the animated film Stitch Head, Red Velvet fans have a lot of content to look forward to.
More information regarding WENDY’s comeback and its concept is expected to be shared by the company in the coming weeks.
