NCT DREAM Resigns With SM Entertainment

by Isabel Miller

SM Entertainment has announced that all six members of NCT DREAM have re-signed with the agency, allowing the continuation of group activities.

While HAECHAN renewed his contract last month alongside the members of NCT 127, members RENJUN, JENO, JAEMIN, CHENLE and JISUNG have now also renewed their contracts, completing NCT DREAM’s current line-up.

The official announcement on Weverse cites “the strong bond and mutual trust the members have built over the years, as well as their shared commitment to continuing their journey together as NCT DREAM.” It also emphasises NCT DREAM’s message of “hope and positivity” and “youthful energy and passion,” indicating the continuation of their bright concept in the future.

At the same time, the announcement has brought new opportunities for individual members of the group. Alongside news of his contract renewal, CHENLE has opened accounts named “ZHONG CHENLE STUDIO” on Weibo, Red Note and Douyin. The studio, officially registered as the Shanghai Zhong Chenle Culture Communication Studio, sees CHENLE as the sole owner and investor of his own management company for activities in China. It indicates that CHENLE intends to begin activities as a solo artist in his native country beyond the group activities of NCT DREAM, and does so with full creative control.

While members HAECHAN and RENJUN have debuted as solo artists in 2025 and 2026 respectively, an established, permanent branch in China is a new venture and grounds a more concrete intention for solo projects. For it to be announced alongside contract renewals suggests that such a venture played a part in discussions and will remain a focus from this point onwards. Typically, idols must terminate their exclusive contracts with their original entertainment companies in order to pursue ambitions involving management, marking CHENLE’s choice to remain with SM during this process as significant.

NCT DREAM first debuted in 2016 with the single “Chewing Gum.” Five studio albums, eight mini albums, and 23 singles later, the group are celebrating their 10th anniversary. Teasers for the ‘2026 NCT DREAM 10TH ANNIVERSARY PARTY <THE SWEET DREAM HOTEL>’ have already been released, hinting at an upcoming event, and the group are also already scheduled for performances at KBS Music Bank in Barcelona and the Dongguk University '2026 Youngcamp' Festival this September.

More details regarding the group’s 10th anniversary event and CHENLE’s solo activities in China are anticipated.
