SM Entertainment’s NCT 127 are set to embark on a fifth solo tour, and its closing night will reportedly be broadcast live in cinemas around the world.

A report from bnt News, published on September 3, states that SM Entertainment has revealed plans for the third and final show of the ‘NCT 127 5TH TOUR NEO CITY : SEOUL - THE REDLINE’ to be live-streamed in 1,030 theatres. That number includes theatres in Korea, Japan, the U.S., Canada, Brazil, Mexico, the UK, Germany, France, Thailand, and Malaysia.

The three Seoul shows take place on September 18, 19 and 20, at the KSPO DOME. Each night sold out upon release, totalling to approximately 45,000 attendees. The latter two concerts are also set to be live-streamed online through global platform Beyond LIVE, with tickets available for purchase on Weverse.

While online, from-home live-streaming is common for K-pop groups with NCT 127’s level of popularity, as increasingly are post-concert films or documentaries, for an event to be live-streamed to cinemas in real time is far less common. The most prominent example of this roll-out is BTS, who live-streamed their ‘ARIRANG’ World Tour stops in Goyang, South Korea and Tokyo, Japan worldwide in partnership with Trafalgar Releasing in April. The choice allows fans around the world to be involved in real time and in communal spaces, supporting an international fanbase.

The ‘NCT 127 5TH TOUR NEO CITY : SEOUL - THE REDLINE’ follows the August 24 release of the group’s seventh studio album BLINGY. Its title track debuted at number one on Circle’s Digital Chart as well as topping charts in China and Japan, and the album overall sold 940,453 copies during its first week according to Hanteo. That figure falls short of NCT 127’s million-selling streak – with 2 Baddies, Fact Check and WALK – but still marks a promising new beginning for NCT 127 after the departure of Mark and two years of inactivity, especially taking into account the absence of members Doyoung and Jungwoo due to military enlistment.

BLINGY, and NCT 127’s new tour, marks the group’s 10-year anniversary. It also coincides with the contract renewals of all seven members, promising a concrete future.
