Meet the Member: HITGS’ Seojin Talks Dance-Line Power, Busan Grit, and Big Dreams
by Hasan Beyaz

To celebrate HITGS’s official debut, we caught up with each member individually.
First up is Seojin — a magnetic dancer and rapper with sharp stage instincts and an unmistakable spark. Born in Seoul and raised in Busan, she trained with the team behind Kiss of Life and now brings that same fire to HITGS. Full of character, Seojin’s playful charm is as unforgettable as the seal from her birth dream.
KPOPWORLD: Debuting is a deeply personal milestone. Was there a moment in this process that made you stop and really reflect on who you are, beyond the performance?
Seojin: While filming our debut trailer, all the time I spent practicing and preparing for this moment flashed through my mind like a panorama. It was a tough journey, but I’m proud I endured it with effort and perseverance.
KPOPWORLD: You trained while preparing to debut with Kiss of Life. How did that chapter shape your mindset and what did you carry with you into HITGS?
Seojin: When I was an S2 trainee, I watched the KISS OF LIFE sunbaenims—who were amazing both in skills and mindset—go through their debut journey. Whenever I faced tough or exhausting moments, I would listen to their songs to strengthen my own resolve. I think it’s because of those times that I was able to debut as a member of HITGS.
KPOPWORLD: You’ve said your birth dream was of a seal, and your personality matches that playful energy. What role does humour or lightness play in your creative process?
Seojin: When I lead group practices, I try to keep the energy high. While we were working on the choreography for our debut track “Never Be Me”, I was joking around with the choreographer—and that playful moment actually helped us come up with the choreography for the chorus. It was really special.
KPOPWORLD: Dance is such a physical, instinctual artform. Do you ever find it speaks for you in moments when words don’t quite fit?
Seojin: Before I became a trainee, I attended a choreo-dance academy. I learned various styles like jazz, girl’s hip-hop, waacking, and K-pop. Each genre had its own way of expressing different feelings through movement, and that fascinated me. I also discovered how my facial expressions would naturally match the mood of each genre, which made me fall in love with dance even more.
KPOPWORLD: From Busan roots to a Seoul-based debut, has place shaped who you are? How do you stay grounded in a fast-moving industry?
Seojin: Busan is often called Korea’s “second capital,” with a thriving industrial and port culture. Growing up in such a place—with great educational and cultural resources—allowed me to freely chase my dreams. Like the ocean, I’ve developed a wide, energetic, and positive mindset that helps keep me grounded.
KPOPWORLD: If you could direct a solo performance piece that captures your essence, what would it sound and look like?
Seojin: I have solo performance ideas inspired by Aespa's Karina sunbaenim’s “UP” and Winter sunbaenim’s “SPARK.” I want to create something that’s powerful yet girlish—something that highlights my strengths in both performance and charm.
