KARINA and NINGNING Make Met Gala Debut in Prada and Gucci

Two members of aespa made their Met Gala entrance on Monday night on Monday night for the first time, marking a significant moment for the group's growing presence in global fashion.
KARINA and NINGNING attended the 2026 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York separately, each representing the luxury house they ambassador. The event, held under the theme "Costume Art" with a dress code of "Fashion is Art," drew around 450 guests from fashion, film, sport, and beyond.
KARINA wore a custom Prada look built around a white double silk satin dress with a tablier neckline, detailed with jet bead and silver crystal embroidery. A cape completed the ensemble, its neckline shaped by the collar of the traditional Korean hanbok – a cultural reference woven into an otherwise sharply contemporary silhouette. She accessorised with a matching satin clutch, silver leather sandals, and Prada Fine Jewellery Couleur Vivante earrings in white gold set with peridot, amethyst, and diamonds. KARINA has been a Prada brand ambassador since 2024.
NINGNING arrived in a custom Gucci gown that leaned hard into drama without losing its sense of control. Black pleated silk organza ruffles ran the full length of the dress, each edge finished with rhinestone embroidery, building a silhouette that shifts between dense and sheer depending on the angle. The result was a debut that matched the occasion. NINGNING was announced as a Gucci global brand ambassador just last week.
The debuts carry weight beyond the red carpet. K-pop's relationship with Western luxury fashion has shifted considerably over the past few years, but having two members of the same group representing Italian fashion houses at the same event underlines just how embedded the genre's leading acts have become in the industry's upper tier. For aespa specifically, it signals a commercial and cultural footprint that extends well beyond music.
The Met Gala appearance lands at a busy moment for aespa. The group will release their new single "WDA (Whole Different Animal)" on 11 May, ahead of their second studio album LEMONADE, due 29 May. A world tour follows later this summer.
