from20 to Release 2nd Studio Album, ‘Rated R’

By Isabel Miller

WAYBETTER’s from20 has announced his second studio album, titled ‘Rated R,’ for release on 26 June 2026.

Since his solo debut in 2021, under the company he co-founded with HELLO GLOOM with the intention of promoting male solo artists, former member of BIGSTAR from20 has been consistently releasing music across the R&B and pop genres. However, this marks his first studio album since the release of ‘20’ in 2021.

In that time, from20's profile has grown – his breakout single "EYE CANDY" and its unapologetically mature concept drew considerable attention online. The direction itself isn't new; from20 has targeted an adult audience since his solo debut, with lyrics that circle love, heartbreak, and sexuality. But "EYE CANDY" landed with a bluntness that generated real discussion in the K-pop space, while speaking to a gap in the market that the constant stream of younger idol debuts had left open. His work has pushed the conversation around K-pop's typically youthful target audience and the industry's general reluctance around mature content – suggesting an appetite for something less beholden to the expectation of family-friendly output.

The teasers suggest the album will continue in that direction. Images show from20 in metallic lighting, and the artist has posted a statement – "IN THIS RESTRICTED AREA, NOTHING'S RESTRICTED" – that leaves little ambiguous about the tone. Confirmed tracklist inclusions so far are previous singles "EYE CANDY" and "Social," with the title track "BIG BOY" pointing to more of the same.

The visual language of the teasers also introduces something new – chains, a snapback, and a harder aesthetic than from20 has previously leaned into. Whether 'Rated R' marks a genuine move toward hip-hop or simply borrows its imagery remains to be seen, but it suggests the album may be his most sonically adventurous yet.
