CORTIS

To Bring Debut World Tour To Cinemas Worldwide In August

By Hasan Beyaz

CORTIS will become the latest K-pop act to take a live show to the multiplex, with Trafalgar Releasing confirming a global cinema broadcast of the group's debut world tour stop in Los Angeles. 2026 CORTIS TOUR <PUT YOUR PHONE DOWN> IN LA: LIVE VIEWING will screen on August 13 and 14 (dates vary by time zone), broadcast live from the YouTube Theater and preceded by a 30-minute pre-show made exclusively for cinema audiences.

The broadcast lands just under a year after CORTIS debuted in August 2025 – a rapid turnaround by any K-pop standard, and one that says as much about HYBE's confidence in the group as it does about CORTIS' own trajectory. The five-member act, made up of MARTIN, JAMES, JUHOON, SEONGHYEON and KEONHO, positioned themselves from the start as a self-producing "young creator crew," handling songwriting, choreography and visual direction rather than working purely as performers within someone else's concept.

That artistry has held up commercially. Their debut EP, COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES, entered the Billboard 200 at No. 15 and posted the strongest first-week sales among 2025's rookie acts – enough to earn the group a place on Forbes' 30 Under 30 Asia 2026 list and recognition at the Mnet Asian Music Awards and Golden Disc Awards. Their follow-up EP, GREENGREEN, moved further still, debuting at No. 3 on the Billboard 200. Its lead single "REDRED" reportedly passed 100 million Spotify streams in 57 days.

The current tour leg, spanning Incheon and North America, has sold out – which is presumably the commercial logic behind the cinema deal in the first place. Event cinema has become a fairly standard extension play for K-pop acts whose ticket demand outstrips venue capacity many times over, and Trafalgar has form here: the distributor handled the Taylor Swift Eras Tour film, still the highest-grossing concert film ever made, alongside previous releases from BTS. Slotting CORTIS into that pipeline, less than twelve months into their career, is a fairly clear signal of where HYBE expects the group to sit within its wider roster.

Trafalgar CEO Marc Allenby framed the broadcast as a natural extension of the tour rather than a bolt-on, adding that the company is "breaking new ground" by simultaneously screening the concert to a live club audience at The Vermont Hollywood on the same night – a hybrid format that layers a ticketed, in-person viewing party (with standard and VIP tiers) on top of the standard cinema release.

Beyond the numbers, the more interesting story here is pacing. It’s years before most K-pop acts are deemed viable for global theatrical release. CORTIS are getting there inside a year, and the reason isn't industry strategy so much as how quickly the public actually caught on – the streaming numbers, the sold-out tour, the NBA and Lollapalooza bookings all point to a group whose reception outpaced its own release calendar, rather than HYBE simply fast-tracking them on paper.

Tickets go on sale July 31 through CortisLiveViewing.com.
