RE:WIND Release Debut EP RE:MINISCE, Merging K-pop Precision with Asian-American Identity
by Hasan Beyaz

Rising K-pop trio RE:WIND have released their debut EP RE:MINISCE today (8 August), bringing a fresh perspective to the genre through their shared Asian-American heritage and cross-cultural sound.
The five-track project is built around a unique concept — it can be played both forward and backward. In one direction, it charts the euphoric beginnings of a relationship through to heartbreak; in reverse, it moves from healing to new beginnings. Each member is credited as a songwriter, with the group shaping the EP’s sound and narrative from start to finish.
The trio — Eddie (Korean-American, 2003), Elaya (Japanese–Spanish–American, 2002) and Lei (Chinese-American, 2000) — are all former idol trainees in South Korea. After returning to the US, they set their sights on becoming the first K-pop boy group composed entirely of Asian-American members.
Since their debut single FOREVER and pre-debut track RE:SET, the group has amassed over 200,000 organic Spotify streams, driven by what they call a mission as much as a career. “We hope to be the representation we never saw growing up, not just for Asian Americans, but for anyone around the world who’s been told their dream is too far, too different, or too late,” they shared.
Blending K-pop polish with Western pop and R&B influences, RE:WIND’s music carries both personal storytelling and broader cultural weight. Under independent label Allele Entertainment, the group have been given full creative agency — something they’ve used to centre artistry, identity, and purpose in their debut.
