Yesung’s journey in the entertainment industry began in his childhood when he displayed a natural inclination towards singing, eventually leading him to win a local singing competition. His talent caught the attention of SM Entertainment, one of South Korea’s leading entertainment agencies, where he became a trainee in 2001. Yesung officially debuted with Super Junior, initially a 12-member project group, in November 2005. The group quickly became a sensation, with their debut album SuperJunior05 (Twins) securing a top spot on the K-pop charts. In 2006, Yesung also became part of the subunit Super Junior-K.R.Y., which focused on R&B ballads, allowing him to showcase his emotive vocal style. His involvement in radio and his acting debut in the comedy film Attack on the Pin-Up Boys in 2007 highlighted his growing popularity and versatility.

From 2008 to 2013, Yesung continued to build his career both as a member of Super Junior and as a solo artist. His contributions to drama soundtracks further solidified his reputation as a singer with an "art-like voice." Despite facing injuries and a brief hiatus for military service, Yesung remained active, contributing to Super Junior’s albums and performances, and even opening a café with his brother.

After completing his military service in 2014, Yesung rejoined Super Junior and continued to contribute to the group’s projects. He also resumed his solo activities, releasing his first extended play Here I Am in 2016, followed by several other solo works, including his second EP Spring Falling and his first Japanese album Story.
