SEVENTEEN’s S.Coups and Mingyu Announce New Sub-Unit CxM with Mini-Album ‘Hype Vibes’

SEVENTEEN’s leader S.Coups and rapper Mingyu are stepping into new territory with the launch of a fresh sub-unit, CxM. Announced today, the project takes its name from the duo’s initials and will arrive with a debut mini-album titled Hype Vibes on September 29. Pre-orders are already open, signalling the first wave of anticipation for what’s set to be one of the autumn’s biggest K-pop releases.

Details on the record remain under wraps – no tracklist, lead single or producers have been revealed – but the duo have dropped a cinematic trailer that hints at its mood. Shot in Los Angeles, it follows the two members as they head towards a day at the beach, cutting between solo moments and a sunlit gathering that builds into a carefree party with dancing, drinks, and strangers who feel instantly like friends.

The trailer suggests that Hype Vibes could lean into the breezy, celebratory side of SEVENTEEN’s sound, but with a more intimate focus on S.Coups and Mingyu’s chemistry as performers. For fans, the pairing makes sense: both are core figures within the group’s Hip-Hop Team, but this marks their first formal project as a duo, opening the door to a dynamic that has long been hinted at on stage and in variety appearances.

Whether Hype Vibes turns out to be a playful detour or the beginning of a sustained sub-unit venture, its announcement adds another layer to SEVENTEEN’s already expansive creative universe. With one of the group’s most recognisable leaders and one of its most charismatic performers front and centre, expectations are running high.
