Non-K-Pop Spotlight: “Ex-Life” by 3rd Line Butterfly

We’re far from the first to share the awesomeness that is “Ex-Life,” as this is one of 3rd Line Butterfly’s most popular songs of all time. However, if we’re able to turn even one new fan onto this synthy goodness of this track, then we will have succeeded.

“Ex-Life” is a bit of an outlier among the group’s discography, as instead of the more groovy, rock-oriented sound that’s more common for them, the song leans heavily into shimmery, lovely walls of synth and texture. The song carries an almost mystical feel as the chords and layers surround the listener in a soupy haze of sound. The chorus explodes with a switch-up of textures, though it still remains a synth fest through and through. The track is incredibly satisfying and relaxing, and is definitely worth a few minutes of your day.
