GWSN: Girls (no longer) in the Park

GWSN, short for Gongwon Sonyeo or "Girls in the Park," is a K-pop girl group that captured hearts with their ethereal concepts and catchy music. They debuted on September 5, 2018, under Kiwi Pop, a subsidiary of Kiwi Media Group, and later The Wave Music. GWSN's lineup consists of seven talented members: Seoryoung, Miya, Seokyoung, Anne, Minju, Soso, and Lena. Each member brought a unique flair to the group, making their performances lovely, cute and vibrant.

Their debut EP, The Park in the Night Part One, featured the lead single “Puzzle Moon,” which showcased their dreamy and mystical vibe. This track, along with others like “Shy Shy” and Let It Grow”, set the tone for their enchanting discography. The follow-up EPs, The Park in the Night Part Two and Part Three, continued this theme with hits like “Pinky Star (Run)” and “Red-Sun.” All certified pop bangers.

In 2020, GWSN released The Keys, featuring the energetic track “Bazooka!”  which marked a slight shift towards a more upbeat and vibrant sound. Their latest EP, The Other Side of the Moon, includes the standout song “Like It Hot,” which blends their signature ethereal style with a more mature sound. Throughout their career, GWSN consistently delivered captivating performances, both in their music videos and live stages.

GWSN's fandom, known as “Groo,” is dedicated and passionate, supporting the group through various challenges. The group faced significant hurdles, including a legal battle to terminate their contracts with The Wave Music, which they won in early 2023. This victory, however, came alongside the unfortunate news of their disbandment.

Despite their disbandment, GWSN's legacy continues through their music and the impact they had on fans worldwide. Songs like “Puzzle Moon,” “Pinky Star (Run),” “Red-Sun” and “Bazooka!” remain fan favorites, celebrated for their unique sound and aesthetic. The members of GWSN, each with their distinct talents, have left an indelible mark on the K-pop scene.
