EPEX steps into an alternate universe in their latest comeback

K-pop group EPEX has been around for some time now. This eight-member boy group debuted in 2021 under C9 Entertainment. Since its debut, EPEX has made a notable development with each comeback. From fantastical teaser photos, and stunning music videos, to experimenting with music genres, EPEX has had a wow factor for each comeback. Following up on its Youth Chapter 1: Youth Days, the group released Youth Chapter 2: Youth Deficiency in November 2024. Let’s take a look at the concept photos for the album.

In the first set of group and individual concept photos, we see the members stepping into a portal and traversing from one place to another. When they step into the new world, not only do their surroundings but also their outfits change. In the group photo, we see that the members are stepping from right to left. On the left, we see members dressed in long black and white outfits whereas on the right, they are seen wearing rather modern-looking clothes. In the individual photos, each photo is cut diagonally to showcase two different universes. On the left-hand side, the photo is straight oriented whereas on the right, it is inverted. It looks like the avatar on the left is looking up to the avatar on the right. But if you invert the entire photo, the sides are switched. One half of the image is in a modern-day city whereas the other half looks like a dystopian place devoid of hope and life.

For an album titled Youth Deficiency, EPEX has certainly nailed the ‘deficiency’ part of the title with the multiverse idea. It is quite interesting to see the new groups reinvent themselves and at the same time come up with new ideas to talk about themes like youth and life that have been long discussed and mulled over.
