Daily Non-K-pop Spotlight: “Ticket to the Moon” by THE SOLUTIONS

Using color as a metaphor, “Ticket to the Moon” sounds like one of those soothing neutral tones that pair well with any style of home decor in a home. It feels at once vintage and classy with 80s undertones while still having a modern flair and a splash of vibrant color. 

 

This metaphor applies to the verses and choruses respectively, with the verses relying heavily on straight forward drums and chugging eighth-note guitars and the choruses relying on the band dropping out entirely to let the isolated vocal harmonies drop you brutally into a heavier, more anthemic modern chorus. 

 

It’s like this was made for television. It could fit a variety of emotional scenes: heartbreak in the city; a climactic kiss; a chase through the airport to stop your lost love from moving away forever; or – imagine this? – the glitzy retro-future story of a literal ticket to the moon. We’d stream that.
