Daily Non-K-pop Spotlight: “Stretched Time” by Wah Wah Wah
作者: Wah Wah Wah

This song feels like music from an alternate timeline. It draws from so many different eras simultaneously: from punk to 00s alt to 60s psychedelia. It’s a sonic kaleidoscope of color and energy.
While incredibly riffy, it’s not without its subtlety. At several points throughout the song (most notably in the intro, but it happens in the choruses as well) the drums slowly pan from left to right, messing with the listener’s sense of space. It’s really well executed. So well, in fact, that it made me feel weird the first time I listened to it without even realizing what was happening on a technical level. That’s how well the band manages to keep the groove going throughout the song.
If you want Beatles-esque vocal hooks with Jet-like riffs and ample amounts of textural distortion, this is for you.
