Daily Non-K-pop Spotlight: “Future History” by Joyce Kwon

It’s always nice to find a Korean Indie artist that has forays into English-language lyrics. Such is the case with Joyce Kwon, whose ethereal, spacious, and ambient song “Future History” delves deep into metaphysical themes. It was really nice to be able to experience her soft music about grief and deep time in my own language. The song was esoteric and incredibly stirring. 

From her 2024 album Orange Hour, the track is for listeners who love slow burns and are enamored with film scores and more classical-leaning compositions. A lot of her music doesn’t have the standard pop song structure. But for those listeners with patience, they’ll be richly rewarded with sweet, tender emotions.
