Daily Non-K-pop Spotlight: “Buckubucku” by MFBTY

You’ve gotta have good music if you want to sport the name MFBTY. An acronym short for “My Fans are Better Than Yours,” this South Korean hip hop collective is composed of Yoon Mirae, her husband Tiger JK, and Bizzy. How does the trio’s talent stack up to their audacious group name? 

 

After listening to “Buckubucku,” I’m convinced they do. The flow from all the featured rappers are fantastic, the sub bass is relentless, and the mix SLAPS (in large part to the clever and relentless use of panning). Featuring lyrics in both Korean and English, Western listeners will be able to experience the song in both languages to see how the lyrics stack up without relying on the music alone. It’s a fun track.
