aespa’s ae-aespa Avatars make a Stunning Comeback with ‘Whiplash’

When aespa first announced its comeback, it threw the fans in a tizzy of excitement and anticipation. For a group that leans so heavily into techno themes, it was a crazy reveal when an oddly but sharply designed spaceship appeared in the intro video. The group went on to release its first-ever photo teasers for its fifth album Whiplash with the members’ virtual avatars ae-aespa. These avatar photos were followed by concept photos featuring the human members of the group. 

 

In the concept photos, we see the members’ virtual avatars dressed in steel gray outfits. Their eyes are covered with steel gray winged sunglasses. ae-Ning Ning is seen in a one-side sleeved top and full-length baggy pants. ae-Winter is seen in a pair of a full-sleeved crop top and shorts with knee-high pencil-heeled boots. There is some contraption that runs along the side of her leg, connecting her outfit and footwear. ae-Karina is seen in a short one-piece dress with scrunched baggy sleeves. There are bands and contraptions on her legs and her outfit is complete with a pair of matching pointed heels. ae-Giselle is also in a short one-piece dress. She has a contraption over her knee and heavy metallic bracelets on her lower arm. Her pointed high heels complete the look.

 

When it comes to teasers and concept photos, aespa truly knocked it out of the park with this comeback. The ae-vatars (see what I did there?) for Whiplash are nothing short of a futuristic modern art presentation. The painstaking detailing for each avatar is reflected well in the final versions. One could not have asked for a more stylish rendition than this one.
