aespa channels an industrial chic futuristic vibe with ‘Whiplash’

aespa has always been a K-pop girl group that has an edge of tech in every comeback. Since its debut in 2020, aespa has been making headlines for its eclectic mix of music and themes. Being a group that has a heavy inclusion of AI and virtual avatars in its concepts, it is no surprise that the group’s label SM Entertainment finds new ways to channel an aesthetic that suits the group’s founding idea.

 

Aespa consists of four members - Winter, Karina, Ning Ning and Giselle. These four members have been shouldering a huge share of fame and criticism alike. With each comeback, they have turned a new leaf and it is no different this time around. Aespa made its comeback in October 2024 with its fifth mini album Whiplash. To create hype and curiosity for the new mini album, SM Entertainment released a bunch of concept photos with different themes.

Today, we will look at the ‘Unforgettable’ concept photos from aespa’s fifth mini album Whiplash. In the ‘Unforgettable’ set, we see the girls dressed in chic black outfits. The outfits shine against the golden light that puts the members in a spotlight. Black sunglasses, coats, sheer stockings, knee-high boots and sleek to messy chic hair-dos complete the look on each member. The makeup is in the tones of browns and nudes, keeping the minimal look on point. The members are sanding next to industrial buildings or on the asphalt road, striking poses that are no less than modern art. There is a stunning aura that exudes from each picture and it is bound to capture your attention.
