Teen Top: Staying on Top

Teen Top, a boy band formed by TOP Media in 2010, has experienced various transformations since its inception. Originally a six-member group, it now consists of Chunji, Niel, Ricky, and Changjo. Over the years, the group has navigated the departure of two members, L.Joe and C.A.P., but has continued to thrive and evolve in the dynamic K-pop industry.

The group's pre-debut days are marked by Ricky and Niel's early exposure to the entertainment world as child actors, which set the stage for their later success. The full group Teen Top officially debuted on July 9, 2010, with their single album Come into the World. Their early years saw the release of several successful mini-albums, including Roman and It's, which featured hits like "Clap" and "No More Perfume On You." Their collaboration with Brave Brothers on the album It's earned them their first music show win with "Going Crazy" in 2012.

In 2013, Teen Top embarked on their first European tour. Their album Teen Top Class and its lead single "Rocking" further solidified their popularity, earning them multiple music show trophies. The group's international appeal was evident with their extensive "High Kick" world tour in 2014, which took them to various countries including the US, Canada, China, and several South American nations. That year, they also released their fourth EP, Exito, and a repackage, 20's Love Two Exitoo.

The years 2015 and 2016 saw the release of their sixth mini-album, Natural Born Teen Top, and their seventh mini-album, Red Point. Despite facing internal challenges, including the cancellation of a concert due to funding issues, the group maintained their momentum. They continued to engage with fans through concerts and music releases, such as the digital single "Except for Me" and participation in the 2015 Feel Korea in New Delhi tour.

In 2017, Teen Top faced a hurdle when L.Joe requested a contract termination. Despite this, the group released their second studio album, High Five, and continued as a five-member group. Their subsequent releases, including the EP Seoul Night and its repackage TEEN TOP STORY: 8PISODE, showcased their resilience and commitment to their music. In 2019, they released their ninth EP, DEAR. N9NE, further cementing their place in the K-pop scene.

Teen Top experienced a resurgence in 2020, with their older songs gaining renewed attention. The group's 10th anniversary was marked by the release of a new version of "To You" and multiple performances on major music shows. Despite the challenges of mandatory military service for some members, Teen Top continued to connect with fans through online concerts and new music. In 2023, they announced their first comeback in four years with the album 4SHO, demonstrating their enduring appeal and adaptability in the ever-changing landscape of K-pop.
