Revisit the retro with Triple H’s ‘Retro Futurism’
Автор: Nandini Iyengar

Triple H, consisting of Hyuna, E’Dawn (now known as Dawn), and Hui, was one of the most momental K-pop collectives. All three of them were signed with Cube Entertainment, but following Hyuna and Dawn’s relationship reveal, the duo departed from the group.

Reflecting on the time that the trio was active, it’s only right to look back at an EP that talks about future and nostalgia with lots of retro touch to it. Triple H’s Retro Futurism was released in July 2018. Let’s start with a look at its album art first.

The album art of Triple H’s Retro Futurism is a smorgasbord of pictures. Bang in the center is the EP’s title. Then on the top left corner we have the trio unit’s name, then as we come down, we have Hyuna and Hui’s photo, Hyuna’s name tag and the words “Retro Sexy Music” on the bottom left. As we proceed to the right, we can see more photos of individual members or dual units. Hui and Dawn’s names are seen as we go towards the top right. Zooming back on the album art, we see that each image has a border akin to a torn piece of paper.

Coming to the members’ photos for this EP, we have individual member photos, then dual unit photos, and then all three of them together. One thing that is consistent in the photos is the old Window 98 format of a dialog box. The EP name, the group and the EP release date are mentioned along with the words “Coming Soon.”

Starting with individual member photos, there is certainly a touch of nostalgia to the photos. The 90s are reimagined in a stunning, jazzy concept. There is a strong focus on the members' faces with such close up and intimate shots. Finally, we have two variations of the same group photo. None of the members are seen completely in the photo.

It would have a true delight to see more from this trio, but alas some things run their course soon. At least we still have the awesome music and imagery to look back on this epic collaboration!
