Daily Non-K-pop Spotlight: “Worries” by KIRARA

Автор: KIRARA

Listening to KIRARA for the first time is an interesting experience. For many of her songs, it takes a few moments before the disparate elements mesh together, but there's always a moment when it clicks. “Worries” might be the song from her discography that clicks the quickest for most. It only takes a little while before the excited breakbeat, vocal chops, and key stabs all come together into an excellently energetic piece that is both a ton of fun and takes a bit of space to carry some more serious emotion too.

“Worries” comes from KIRARA’s 2018 album Sarah. The track is a great starting point for both the album and her work as a whole because, as mentioned above, it gets into her signature groove pretty quickly compared to other tracks. Additionally, it contains little bits here and there of almost every trick in her book, making the track an excellent litmus test for those unsure if they’ll enjoy the journey into the rest of her work.

KIRARA might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but she still presents an interesting and exciting avenue into Korean music beyond K-pop.
