Daily Non-K-pop Spotlight: “Cheer Up” by OKDAL

If you're all about those intimate, whispery vibes, OKDAL is your new must-listen artist. This female singer/songwriter duo is my ultimate go-to for zoning out and crushing deadlines. Their harmonies? Pure magic—subtly melancholic and undeniably beautiful. Sometimes, you just need a tune that's got a touch of bittersweet but a whole lot of joy.

 

“Cheer Up” has bouncy rhythms that inspire happiness, but the song’s heavily chromatic progression prevents it from skirting those bittersweet emotions. I especially love the horns and orchestral percussion that enter in the final act. It’s theatrical, cute, and refreshing.
