BTS's SUGA Fined for Driving Electric Scooter Under the Influence

BTS member SUGA has been fined for driving an electric scooter while intoxicated. The Seoul Western District Court issued a summary order on September 30, penalizing the artist with a 15 million KRW fine, equivalent to around 11,392 USD, for violating the Road Traffic Act. A summary order is a legal procedure that imposes fines without requiring a formal trial, typically used for minor offenses. If SUGA does not contest the ruling within a week, the fine will be finalized.
The incident in question took place on the night of August 6, when SUGA was caught driving his electric scooter under the influence of alcohol. According to reports, the incident occurred at around 11:15 PM, when SUGA fell off the scooter. Police officers arrived at the scene and confirmed that he was intoxicated.

SUGA’s blood alcohol content (BAC) was measured at 0.227%, significantly exceeding the legal limit for license revocation in South Korea, which is set at 0.08%. His level of intoxication not only violated the law but also placed him at high risk for accidents.
As a prominent figure in the K-pop world, this incident has sparked media attention and concern among fans. SUGA has not yet publicly commented on the case, but if no objection is made to the court’s ruling, the fine will stand.
