Wonho: ‘Right For Me’ and Right for You

If you have been a fan of K-pop then you will be familiar with Monsta X, a group whose music is synonymous with being strong, sultry and embedded in layers of romance and slice-of-life tales. The group has had its ups and downs since its debut, the most recent being a few members signing off of Starship Entertainment to join new labels and pursue a solo career. While the members continue to participate in activities together as Monsta X, their focus has since turned to their solo careers and military enlistments.

Lee Ho Seok aka Wonho was a member of Monsta X until 2020. A few allegations of substance abuse from his past resurfaced, leading him to depart from the group. The singer-songwriter has since reinvented himself and set up an image of an artist who supports a clean and healthy lifestyle. His physique is something that is always a talk of the town whenever he chooses to post on social media. He has truly changed from a soft demure boy to a strong and sturdy gentleman.

In 2020, Wonho made his solo debut in September with the mini-album Love Synonym #1 : Right for Me. He continued releasing single albums and EPs until October 2022. In November 2022, Wonho announced that he would be enlisting in the military in the following month. He was discharged from the military in September 2024. Upon his return, he greeted his fans with a live session on his social media.

As a member of Monsta X and as a soloist, Wonho has continued to make a stellar display of his singing and songwriting skills. He has contributed to composition and lyrics of memorable hits like “Trespass,” “Lose,” and “Open Mind,” to name a few. As he has just returned from the military, the plans of his next comeback are yet unknown. But whenever he does plan to make new music, it will be a memorable event for us all.
