The group's debut EP, Hello, featured the hit single "Mr. Ambiguous," establishing Mamamoo's presence in the K-pop scene.

Wheein's early life and artistic influences played a crucial role in shaping her career. Growing up in Jeonju with her mother and grandmother, she was exposed to various forms of art from a young age. Her mother's background in photography and fine arts inspired Wheein to explore different creative avenues. This artistic upbringing is evident in her music and visual projects, where she often blends her love for painting and music. Her single album Soar and its artwork are prime examples of this integration, where she visually represents the emotions conveyed in her songs.

In 2017, Wheein's collaboration with Jung Key on the song "Anymore" topped the Gaon Charts, marking her as a notable potential solo artist. Her solo debut came in 2018 with the digital single "Easy," featuring Sik-K, which peaked at number three in South Korea. This was followed by her first single album, Soar, in 2019, which included the successful track "Good Bye." Her solo career continued to flourish, with multiple collaborations and contributions to soundtracks, further showcasing her versatility and talent.

In 2021, Wheein released her debut EP, Redd, which was well-received, peaking inside the top ten in Korea. This period also marked a significant change in her career as she left her longtime agency RBW and signed with The L1ve. Her second EP, Whee, released in 2022, also achieved considerable success, reaching number four on the Circle Album Chart. These releases highlighted her growth as an artist, both in her musical style and her ability to connect with her audience through her personal and heartfelt lyrics.

In 2023, Wheein reached another milestone with the release of her first studio album, IN the Mood.
