Watch the moment kids reacted to SHINee’s entire career

ODG’s YouTube channel features a series called “Kids Review K-pop Stars Career.” The entire concept is so funny: sit kids down with idols who began releasing music long before they were born/aware of them, and have them experience it for the first time with the idols at their side.

 

There are moments of genuine laughs as the kids experience SHINee’s music, their dancing, and their wardrobe changes throughout the years. But there’s also real emotional depth. At 9:28, one of the girls notices that the group shrinks from 5 members to 4 when looking at concept photos and watching the beginning of a live performance.

 

 

SHINee debuted in 2008 under SM Entertainment with Onew, Key, Minho, Taemin, and Jonghyun. She points out Jonghyun’s absence to Minho, who holds back tears as he expertly and compassionately navigates explaining to her why Jonghyun left the group.

 

Jonghyun committed suicide on December 18, 2018.

 

The way Minho explains that he’s a “Very good uncle” is so bittersweet. Heartwarming and devastating at the same time. It’s one of the most emotional moments in K-pop history.
