Watch ACEY take on "Woke Up"

When it’s your full-time job to cover K-pop trends, you see and hear a lot of stuff. We’ve seen a LOT of K-pop dance covers. Like, you would not believe the amount of K-pop dance covers we’ve seen. There are many things that set amateur dance groups apart from the best of the best, but the three that come to mind are 1) facial expressions 2) cinematography 3) overall group cohesion.
When you watch San Francisco professional dance troupe ACEY take on XG’s “Woke Up,” one of the first things you’ll notice is that every dancer has the words MEMORIZED. To dance the way that they do, emote the way that they do, and posture the way that they do all while having rapid-fire rap bars flawlessly memorized is quite the feat.
The cinematography by Miggy (@MiggySmallzYT on Instagram) is near-flawless as well, with great focus on the performers, lush colors, and perfectly timed whips and zooms. But memorized bars and great cinematography can’t save a mediocre group. And luckily ACEY is anything but mediocre. Every dancer brings it.
This is a K-pop dance cover you won’t want to miss. ACEY is one of the best troupes in the game. See for yourself in the video below. If you like it, give them a follow on Instagram.
