UNIS Announces Remake of B.B’s 90s Hit “Heaven’s Land Star Land”

F&F Entertainment has announced that rising girl group UNIS will release a remake of B.B’s hit song “Heaven’s Land Star Land” on September 8, 2026.

B.B is a female Korean duo who were active under Yedang Sound between 1996 and 1997. They released two albums, B.B’s Come and B.B, the latter led by the title track “Heaven’s Land Star Land.” The duo swiftly gained popularity with several songs charting within the Top 10 on Korean music charts.

Almost thirty years on, UNIS will release a reimagining of the song in line with current K-pop trends. Building upon the original song’s bright, addictive melody, it will carry the Y2K and “kitsch teen” image and sound that has been repeatedly seen in the industry in recent years. UNIS, with their focus on youthfulness and individuality, have become representative of the trend, presenting lively stage performances since their debut.

UNIS debuted in March 2024 with the mini album We UNIS as a result of the SBS reality show Universe Ticket. They are an eight-member project group currently under a 2.5 year contract, which will end sometime in September 2026. Reportedly, F&F Entertainment may extend the group’s contract for a further two years upon mutual agreement from the members, but nothing is yet confirmed – meaning that this new single may be the group’s last. Its reception will likely play a part in determining whether UNIS disbands.

In July, their first Japanese mini album “UNI☆Sparkle!” and its Y2K sound saw success. The title track “GimmeSummer☆” gained mainstream attention in Japan, climbing USEN charts. USEN provides background music for stores in the country, meaning that UNIS’ music was heard in public and gained momentum through local recognition. Placement on the charts is deemed representative of real-time trends beyond big names and sales; success here suggests that UNIS has the potential to become popular within the mainstream.

As a return to the Korean market, UNIS are joining another growing trend: nostalgic remakes. On July 8, breakout girl group RESCENE released a remake of “Pretty Girl” by KARA, originally released in 2008. Aided by a viral dance trend, the song peaked at number one on MelOn’s notorious Hot 100 chart and secured the highest daily chart debut in South Korea for 2026 on YouTube Music. The remake skyrocketed the rookies to fame, boosting their 2024 debut title track “Love Attack” to number one on MelOn shortly afterwards. UNIS will be hoping for the same effect.

Other remakes include rookie girl group AtHeart’s reimagining of “3! 4!” by Roo’Ra, a part of their wider remake series, and remakes from Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon and singer-songwriter HANRORO to kick off the “J-POP REMAKE” project hosted by TV personality Kangnam.

Across the board, nostalgia is leading K-pop at present. For UNIS, it presents the opportunity to gain popularity in Korea and delay their disbandment.
