TXT's Yeonjun shines as a rebellious delinquent in the music video for his solo debut, "GGUM"

TOMORROW X TOGETHER, also known as TXT, sees its oldest member, Yeonjun, make his solo debut with Yeonjun's Mixtape: GGUM. The mixtape is set to release on October 29, with the pre-release track "GGUM" dropping in September. In both the song and its music video, Yeonjun embodies a bold, cutting-edge, and non-conforming persona. He taps into his inner delinquent and rebel, marking a striking contrast to his polished and charismatic image as a K-pop star.

Chewing gum serves as a metaphor, illustrating how certain labels, titles and experiences cling to us—much like gum stuck to the soles of your shoes, and it's tough to shake off. Similarly, once someone tastes the thrill of rebellion and provocativeness, it becomes nearly impossible to let go of that identity.
While the music video is impressive and effectively showcases Yeonjun’s passion for hip-hop and dance, it could have embraced an edgier, more unflinching approach to make a bolder statement, reflecting the spirit of rap and hip-hop. Nonetheless, there's no denying that Yeonjun makes a strong debut with "GGUM."
