Stray Kids Achieve History-Making Ninth Billboard 200 No. 1 with ‘THIS & THAT’
by Isabel Miller

Stray Kids have achieved their ninth number one on the Billboard 200 with THIS & THAT, becoming the only Asian act in history to do so.
THIS & THAT, released on August 7, 2026, is the group’s tenth mini album since their debut in 2018. Since 2022, every one of those mini albums and studio albums has topped the Billboard 200 chart in the U.S., with the full list totalling nine number ones: ODDINARY, MAXIDENT, 5-STAR, 樂-STAR, ATE, 合 (HOP), KARMA, DO IT, and THIS & THAT.
This achievement places Stray Kids at the number two spot amongst groups with the most number one albums on the chart, tied with The Rolling Stones and behind only The Beatles. It also places them alongside global star Taylor Swift, sharing a joint lead for the most number one albums in the 2020s.
Most of all, it extends their individual lead as the Korean act with the most number ones on the chart, with BTS in second place (seven albums) and ATEEZ in third place (three albums). Stray Kids stand as the only Asian act in history to achieve nine overall.

Both achievements place K-pop at the forefront of the wider music industry in terms of commercial success. Stray Kids sit at the top of U.S. sales charts amongst Western artists who have previously dominated those same charts, showcasing the buying power of K-pop and its fans – now demonstrably matching the numbers and consistency of iconic Western stars like Taylor Swift. Such a landmark proves that the genre has a commercial legitimacy equal to that of Western artists, and that K-pop acts are worth international investments and opportunities. Additionally, Stray Kids’ growing numbers indicate that K-pop has not yet peaked in this regard and will continue to compete with Western music in the future.
THIS & THAT marks significant growth for the group beyond its place in this ongoing sequence. The album earned 369,000 equivalent digital and physical sales in the U.S. from its release on August 7 to August 13, 357,000 of those in pure physical units according to tracker Luminate – Stray Kids’ biggest sales week ever. That is almost a 100,000 unit increase since their previous album, DO IT, which earned 295,000 equivalent sales last November.
In the summer of 2025, the group sold out the North America leg of their stadium tour <dominATE>, which became the bestselling and highest-grossing concert tour in the country by any K-pop act. Their popularity has already been acknowledged this year by offers of headlining slots at international festivals such as the Governor's Ball in NYC. Now, as the group kick off their new world tour <RUN IT>, their album sales records are even higher.
With a North America leg already in JYP Entertainment's plans for 2027, the next opportunity to test how far those numbers can climb is already on the horizon.
