The saga of interesting and unexpected K-pop crossovers continues – this time, with Stray Kids member Felix and the fast-paced world of Formula 1. On March 15, Felix made a stylish entrance at the F1 Grand Prix of China in Shanghai as a guest of the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS team, turning the racing track into a runway and absolutely stealing the show.
Appearing as a brand ambassador for Adidas Global, Felix was decked out in an all-black ensemble with white accents, including a chic Y-3 x Mercedes-AMG paired with matching leather pants to complete the look. But it wasn’t just the rapper’s outfit that was stealing the show – it was the immaculate aura he exuded from the trendy hair and makeup styles that are currently taking TikTok by storm.
The appearance isn't entirely out of left field. Felix has been open about his affinity for Formula 1, citing the sport as a direct influence on the lyrics for "Truman," his 2024 collaborative track with fellow Stray Kids member Han. That kind of genuine personal investment tends to make these crossovers land differently – like a natural extension of who the artist already is. It's also worth noting the broader context: K-pop's presence at major global sporting and cultural events has grown steadily, with idols increasingly appearing as legitimate fixtures in spaces well outside the genre's traditional orbit.
With his signature blonde hair tied in a ponytail and a couple of loose tendrils framing his face, Felix had the Internet buzzing once again from his “anime” visuals. On a Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Facebook post, where Felix is seen with F1 driver George Russel, swarms of comments from even non-K-pop fans gush over how the Stray Kids member reminds them of characters from classic video games such as Final Fantasy and Tekken. Even people who aren’t familiar with him are taken by Felix’s striking presence and sense of style.
On the makeup front, the rapper is seen sporting one of the hottest lip trends, according to Teen Vogue: ultra-glossy, cool-toned lip gloss. While its color leans more neutral and has a subtle tint to it, it’s just enough to make Felix’s lips and overall features pop against his skin and complemented by his blonde hair. The look is topped off with a pair of sleek silver rectangular glasses from Gentle Monster that add just enough class and sophistication without going overboard.
As Felix made the rounds posing for photographs and talking to the press, HYPEBEAST caught up with the K-pop idol to talk about all things racing and Formula 1. When asked if he could be in the driver’s seat of a Mercedes-AMG car and which of his group members would be in the passenger seat, Felix smiled and responded, “Honestly, I would be in the passenger seat because I wouldn’t know how to drive, but I would love it if Kimi Antonelli or George Russell were in the driver’s seat. I think it would be so cool to see how they would drive on the track – that would be dope as hell.”
In a separate interview on the track, Felix talks about his origins with F1 and how it inspired him when writing the lyrics for his and fellow Stray Kids member Han’s song, “Truman.” “Honestly, I was into F1 back then, but I love all the racers and their spirit, so it just came into writing the lyrics, and I thought it was a good suit.” As K-pop's reach continues to bleed into other aspects of pop culture and current events, fans can definitely keep their eyes peeled for more collaborative crossovers and partnerships like Felix and F1 in the future.
