STAYC embraces their messy and mischievious side in comeback MV

Just like the quirky name of their song, STAYC embraces being feisty and frisky while fully accepting their confused and chaotic selves. The talented five-member group, including Sumin, Sieun, Isa, Seeun, Yoon, and J, released their debut studio album titled Metamorphic on July 1.

 

As the sonic introduction to their debut album, the lead single "Cheeky Icy Thang" stands out as a quintessential K-pop track. Despite its playful and seemingly non-serious title, the synth-pop song showcases a zany shuffle rhythm and features bold, empowering lyrics. 

 

Fans pointed out that the song evokes the musical style of second-generation K-pop girl group T-ara, renowned for their groovy tunes, catchy beats, and robotic-style lyrics. "Cheeky Icy Thang" firmly establishes itself as a campy summer song.
