SEVENTEEN Confirm Second Contract Renewal With PLEDIS Entertainment
by Isabel Miller

Today, July 13, 2026, PLEDIS Entertainment confirmed that all thirteen members of SEVENTEEN have chosen to renew their contracts for a second time.
“We are delighted to once again announce our continued journey with all thirteen members,” a statement issued by the company read, before going further to emphasise messages previously given by those members themselves; “SEVENTEEN does not promise “eternity” lightly. Rather, the artists show their dedication to it every day through their passion and hard work. It is an honor to be able to start another new chapter together.”
SEVENTEEN debuted in 2015, making 2026 their 11th year as a group. Throughout that time, they have released 23 albums across their Korean and Japanese discographies. Several of these have broken records within the K-pop industry and outside of it; 10th mini-album FML holds the record for the best-selling album in South Korean history with over 6.39 copies sold worldwide, and was the best-selling album worldwide in 2023 according to IFPI.
Recently, the group has seen success with new sub-units planned around the gradual, mandatory military enlistment periods of eligible members. Sub-units include JxW, HxW, CxM, DxS, and V8, with youngest member Dino pursuing a solo project.

At present, members Wonwoo, Hoshi and Woozi are completing their military service, while Jeonghan concluded his in June. Also in June, during the group’s 10th anniversary fanmeeting <SEVENTEEN in CARAT LAND> in Seoul, the remaining eligible members of SEVENTEEN confirmed that they will be taking a break from group activities while they too complete mandatory military service periods. However, even with these absences, leader S.COUPS was sure to reassure fans at the event that they would return as thirteen. With the promise that “the remaining members will be completing the [renewal] process in alignment with their respective military service conditions,” fans can be confident that the group will follow through with their promise.
What is unique about this announcement is the unwavering nature of SEVENTEEN as a collective. While other third generation groups have lost several members or disbanded entirely, SEVENTEEN remains complete with not a single member lost, making this renewal a rare and significant choice. Even as they pursue solo and unit projects, they do so under the SEVENTEEN name or alongside SEVENTEEN activities – such as JUN’s acting projects in China.
S.COUPS, JEONGHAN, JOSHUA, JUN, HOSHI, WONWOO, WOOZI, THE 8, MINGYU, DK, SEUNGKWAN, VERNON and DINO are predicted to return in 2028. Fans can therefore expect a series of military enlistment announcements throughout the remainder of this year.
