RIIZE Debut on U.S. Top 40 Radio Chart
by Isabel Miller

On August 21, SM Entertainment reported that RIIZE has made their debut on the Top 40 Radio Chart, a weekly ranking for U.S. airplay.
“Do your dance,” the title track of the group’s most recent EP II - The 2nd Mini Album, placed at number 40 on the latest chart with 493 plays on major U.S. radio stations according to its tracker Mediabase. The song was the only K-pop entry on the chart during the recorded week as well as RIIZE’s debut, reflecting the song’s popularity in the United States.
RIIZE has seen popularity in the U.S. since their debut, with their first mini album RIIZING debuting at number 11 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart in August 2024. II - The 2nd Mini Album sees a drop in comparison, debuting at number 39 on the same chart, but the album still saw over one million sales worldwide during its release week and its airplay presence represents a more important milestone for the group.
To be featured as the only K-pop group on the Top 40 Radio Chart indicates a particular appeal in the U.S.. Radio play is notoriously difficult to get even for the groups topping sales and streaming charts in the country as it requires confidence that the song will be positively received by a wide demographic, as opposed to targeting solely K-pop fans. RIIZE have overcome this, and have been rewarded by having their music heard on mainstream channels.
The achievement comes almost a year after the group toured North America for the first time, as part of their first world tour ‘RIIZING LOUD.’ Throughout October and November, the group visited Rosemont, New York, Washington, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Mexico City with venue capacities of between 4,400 and 8,500.
Placing on the Radio Chart indicates that RIIZE has the potential to grow in popularity in the U.S. for further events in the future, as they prepare for the release of their upcoming single album Sunburst.
