ONF: Two Teams, One Goal

ONF (On and Off) is a South Korean-Japanese boy band formed by WM Entertainment in 2017. Initially debuting with seven members, the group now consists of six: Hyojin, E-Tion, Seungjun, Wyatt, Minkyun, and U. The group's distinctive structure is divided into two teams—ON and OFF—adding a creative layer to their identity. Laun, their youngest member, left the group in 2019. ONF's journey from their debut EP ON/OFF to subsequent projects has reflected both innovation and persistence, solidifying their presence in the competitive K-pop scene.

Before their official debut, the members of ONF had diverse pre-debut experiences. Some trained under major agencies like JYP and Starship Entertainment, and even participated in high-profile survival shows like No.Mercy and Mix Nine. Their pre-debut appearances as backup dancers for B1A4 helped sharpen their performance skills. When they debuted with ON/OFF, the group established their two-team concept: ON for powerful performances and OFF for more emotionally driven music. This innovative structure set them apart early on, allowing for a dynamic balance in their music and performances.

Their second extended play You Complete Me, along with their participation in the reality show Mix Nine, further cemented ONF’s place in the industry. Despite the collapse of Mix Nine’s debut project, ONF pushed forward, expanding into the Japanese market with notable releases like "Complete (Japanese Ver.)". Their third EP, We Must Love, and subsequent tours across Asia helped them reach international audiences. However, Laun's sudden departure in 2019 created a significant challenge for the group, but they continued to evolve musically.

ONF’s involvement in Road to Kingdom in 2020 propelled them to new heights. Their electrifying performances, particularly their final track "New World," showcased their artistic versatility, helping them secure second place. Post-show, the release of Spin Off and its lead track "Sukhumvit Swimming" introduced fresh, experimental sounds. The group also ventured into acting, starring in their first web drama, showing they were more than just a typical boy band.

In 2021, ONF achieved their first major chart success with their studio album ONF: My Name and the single "Beautiful Beautiful," which topped charts and earned them their first music show win. The group marked their military service in 2022 by enlisting together—a rare occurrence in K-pop. During their time away, they continued to engage fans with special releases, including Storage of ONF. After their discharge in 2023, they resumed activities with renewed momentum, signaling an exciting new chapter in their careers.
