NewJeans Hyein is Back!

Fans of NewJeans were thrilled to see Hyein back on stage at KBS WORLD TV's Music Bank, marking her return after a recovery hiatus due to a foot injury. Hyein, a cherished member of the popular K-Pop band, had been absent from her group’s activities following a microfracture sustained during practice earlier this year.

In April, ADOR, the band's agency, announced that Hyein would be temporarily stepping back from her duties to prioritize her recovery. During practice, Hyein experienced pain in the top of her foot, prompting a visit to the hospital.

 

ADOR released a detailed update on May 8, explaining Hyein’s health status and recovery process. The agency stated, "Last month, Hyein felt pain in the top of her foot during practice. She visited the hospital, where she underwent a thorough examination and discovered a microfracture in her foot. She has since been focusing on treatment and recovery. However, the medical professionals have advised her to minimize any movement that may put unnecessary strain on the affected area."

 

To ensure Hyein's speedy recovery, ADOR announced that she would not participate in the promotional activities for the double single How Sweet, and that she would take a break from shows and performances as well. Her participation in other scheduled appearances would be adjusted flexibly based on her health and medical advice. The agency appealed to the group's fandom, known as Bunnies, for patience and understanding during this period, affirming their unwavering support for Hyein's recovery journey.

Meanwhile, NewJeans continued to move forward, preparing for their highly anticipated comeback. The group released their double single album How Sweet on May 24, featuring a pre-release track "Bubble Gum" with its music video dropping on April 27. Additionally, the group geared up for their Japanese debut, releasing another double single album on June 21, which included the title track "Supernatural" and the B-side track "Right Now."

 

Hyein's return to the stage at Music Bank was a moment of joy for fans and fellow members alike. Though she performed with caution, ensuring not to overstrain her recovering foot, she absolutely killed the performance! ADOR has indicated that Hyein’s participation in future activities will be closely monitored, ensuring her health remains the top priority.
