NCT WISH Release Japanese Single ‘YO-I-DON! / BOY MEETS GIRL’ Following Sold Out Japanese Fanmeeting

by Isabel Miller

On July 13, NCT WISH, the fifth generation unit of NCT, released their Japanese single album YO-I-DON! / BOY MEETS GIRL. The album consists of two songs: “BOY MEETS GIRL,” which was pre-released on June 22, and new title-track “YO-I-DON!”.

“YO-I-DON!” is a dance-pop track inspired by the Eurobeat genre, and its title and lyrics express determination and hope as the speaker rushes towards a new beginning. Such a storyline is characteristic of the group, who are building an image centred around youth and passion.

This release comes after a successful fan meeting held by the six-member group in Japan this weekend, with four shows across July 11 and 12, 2026, which saw NCT WISH performing to a sold out crowd of 40,000 attendees at Keio Arena in Tokyo. Included within the setlist was the pre-release single “BOY MEETS GIRL,” driving excitement for the release of the complete single album. Such a positive reception in Japan for the pre-release and for the group overall indicates their popularity in Japan, and extends the popularity they are also seeing in Korea.

The Japanese fan meeting was positioned as a sequel to NCT WISH’s second anniversary fan meeting held at Jamsil Arena in Seoul, held in February – an event which also sold out with around 10,000 attendees. Titled <Help! All Six Princes Are Trying to Propose to Me>, the initial event in Korea saw Sion, Riku, Yushi, Jaehee, Ryo, and Sakuya perform as princes in front of a castle background as part of a romantic, royal storyline, and the Japanese sequel showcased a similar concept.

Both songs within YO-I-DON! / BOY MEETS GIRL encapsulates this prince-like image, continuing the youthful, romantic themes of the group’s current projects. The music video for “YO-I-DON!” also reflects the same storyline visually, as the members compete to claim a winged trophy held by Cupid, the Roman God of Desire.

YO-I-DON! / BOY MEETS GIRL will release as a physical single in Japan on July 15 and high sales figures are expected, following consistent records of over 100,000 for previous NCT WISH Japanese releases according to Oricon.
