SHINee’s MINHO To Release Second Mini Album ‘Make it Hot’ in September

by Isabel Miller

SM Entertainment has announced that MINHO of SHINee is set for a comeback as a solo artist on September 7, 2026 with the mini album Make it Hot.

A teaser image establishes the album’s summer theme, showcasing a beach setting with the album name written on a flaming t-shirt draped over a surfboard in the sand. Make it Hot will consist of six songs, including the title track and the single “TEMPO” released last December.

MINHO was the last SHINee member to launch a solo career, releasing the standalone track "I'm Home" in 2019 before his official debut with mini album Chase in 2022. CALL BACK followed in 2024 – his bestselling solo release to date, shifting approximately 75,000 copies in its first week according to Hanteo – and single album TEMPO arrived in 2025.

Within that time, MINHO has also been active as a member of SHINee. The veteran group released their sixth mini album Atmos on June 1, 2026, following a three-show series of concerts at KSPO Dome in Seoul titled ‘The Trilogy I - 2026 SHINee WORLD VIII: [THE INVERT]’.

With Atmos promotions now concluded, SHINee members are returning to solo work. TAEMIN has unveiled PHASE 1 : Soft Violence, ONEW has released Japanese single "KAKERA," and Make it Hot confirms MINHO is following the same path.

While TEMPO teased his return to music as a soloist, MINHO also hosted a solo fanmeeting in Korea and Japan surrounding the release, ‘2025 BEST CHOI's MINHO,’ where the song was performed live. Now, that intent to return with an album has been confirmed as “TEMPO” finds itself on the tracklist.

The genre of Make it Hot is unclear at present, but MINHO’s previous solo music has seen a strong focus on R&B and mid-tempo pop. More teasers, providing further hints at its sound, can be expected ahead of its release on September 7.

Make it Hot arrives as part of a broader solo moment for SHINee following the group's Atmos cycle. For a group that debuted in 2008, the sustained individual output across the roster says something about both the longevity of the group's appeal and the commercial viability of its members as solo acts in their own right.
