Min Hee Jin’s injunction request approved

The 50th Civil Affairs Division of the Seoul Central District Court ruled in favor of Min Hee Jin on Thursday May 30, granting her injunction request against HYBE Corporation.

Min Hee Jin made this injunction request to prevent HYBE from ousting her at a scheduled May 31 shareholders meeting. Min Hee Jin is currently the CEO of ADOR, a South Korean record label known for their world-famous girl group NewJeans. As parent company and major shareholder, HYBE planned to use its 80% ownership to dismiss Min Hee Jin.

Now that this injunction request has been granted, Min Hee Jin will remain CEO throughout the legal battle. If HYBE violates this order and fires Min Hee Jin, they’ll be forced to compensate her 20 billion won.

At this point, however, a new board of directors for ADOR has already been nominated. Once installed, Min Hee Jin’s ability to manage ADOR will be functionally impossible. It will be interesting to see how this all shakes out.
